Victoria Ann Garcia, age 27, of Odessa, passed from this life in a
tragic accident on Thursday, February 2, 2012.
She was born in Odessa on October 11, 1984 to Andres Jacobo and
Diana (Galvan) Jacobo - Sauceda.
She was a very caring person who worked as a daycare teacher.
She was always friendly and loving and easily kept those around
her smiling. She enjoyed
Western décor, clothing, and dancing and was frequently overheard to
say, “I am on a diet, but will get back on it tomorrow.”

Rosary will be said Monday evening, February 6, 2012 at Acres West
Funeral Chapel at 7:30 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church, officiated by Father Arturo Pestin.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Gonzalez, Jaime Ybarra, Ricky Jacobo,
Frank Jacobo, Joe Jacobo, and Leonardo Villareal.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery.

Shirley C. Watson, age 75, of Odessa, was called away to her
Heavenly home on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Medical Center
Hospital. She entered
this life on Sunday, April 19, 1936 in Natchitoches, LA, one of six
children born to the late Albert and Annisteen (Cross) Coutee.
She married Eddie Watson in 1972 in Lea County, NM and they
enjoyed 24 years together before separated by his death in 1996.
Shirley was a wonderful caretaker and was a retired certified
nurse’s assistant. She
was a great mother and grandma and an example to her family.
She was a member of the Highland and Bunche Street Church of
Christ congregation and her faith was very important to her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters:
Celesteen Allen and husband Terry of Greenville, S.C.,
Sharon Bennett and husband Darian of Midland, Gayla Wright and
husband Andrae of Odessa, and Nesa Bridges of Midland; her son:
Nathaniel Coutee of Dallas; sister:
Doris Phillips Board of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers:
Wardell Coutee and wife Kellie of Natchitoches, La. and
Richard Phillips of Lancaster, Calif.; twelve grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded to her eternal
home by her brothers:
James Phillips and Albert Coutee, and her son:
Errington Franklin Allen, Jr.
A wake will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Acres
West Funeral Chapel.
Homegoing services will be at Highland and Bunche St. Church of
Christ, 1705 Highland Street, at
11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2012, Bro. Gene O. Collins
officiating. Interment
will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.

Enrique Lopez “Henry” Soto, age 53, of Odessa,
passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at his home.
He was born in San Angelo, TX on January 8, 1959 to late Panfilo
Soto and Lydia (Lopez) Soto.
He married Monica Guevara in Odessa on August 12, 2006.
He worked for the City of Odessa for 14 years before his
disability prevented him from working. Those left to cherish his love and memory are his
wife Monica Soto of Odessa; mother:

Anna Marie De la Paz of Austin, Raquel Arenivas of Odessa, and
Amy Soto of Austin; two sons:

Joyce Ann (Davis) Moore, age
69, of Odessa, passed from this life on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at
Regency Hospital of Odessa. She was born in Quanah, TX on June
25, 1942 to Jack and Tommie (Williams) Davis.
Her parents and her husband Elmer Joe Moore, precede her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter:
Claudia Friar and husband J.L. of Amarillo, three grandchildren:
Jasmyne and Jamon Friar of
Arlington, Jermell Friar of Amarillo, and one great-grandchild. She is
also survived by three cousins Pat Caldwell, Michelle and Teresa of

Marcos Vasquez Lopez, age 83, of Odessa, entered
into eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Deerings Nursing Home
in Odessa. He was freed to
join both his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife, Maria H. Medina
Lopez. Marcos was born in
Terlingua, TX on October 7, 1928 to the late Miguel and Nieves
(Vasquez) Lopez. He was a
hard worker and was employed as a janitor at the Eagles Lodge for many
years. Mr. Lopez was a good and gentle man.
He never said a mean word to anyone and was devoted Grandpa.
He was always there for his
children. He was a playful
person who enjoyed laughing and joking with family and friends.
He also enjoyed wrestling very much.
He is survived by his daughters:
Nieves Lopez Torres and husband Jose Manuel and Amelia Pando and
husband Socorro, all of Odessa, and Frances Lopez and husband Johnny of
Dallas; son: Filberto
Lopez of Odessa; seventeen grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.

Josefina Rodriguez Herrera, age 64 of Odessa, died
Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Mexico on February 21, 1947 to Simon Rodriguez
and Beatrice (Campos) Rodriguez.
She married Juan Antonio Herrera in Mexico in 1976.
She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She is survived by her husband:

Beatrice Rodriguez of Odessa; two daughters:
Juana Herrera and Odile Lujan, both of Midland; four brothers:
Robert Rodriguez, Luis Martin Rodriguez, and Jorge Rodriguez,
all of Odessa and Sammy Campos of Austin; five sisters:
Dolores “Lola” Dominguez, Carmen Rodriguez, Maria Castillo, and
Cathy Cortez, all of Odessa and Cruz Rodriguez of Austin; and six
grandchildren: Mayra,
Ivan, Alejandro, Jahir, David, and Samantha. Her father:
Simon Rodriguez; son:
Juan Jose Herrera; and two brothers:
Jesus Manuel Rodriguez and Tomas Rodriguez, preceded her in
death. Rosary will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Frankie Viola Emison Schooley Russell

Frankie Viola Emison Schooley Russell, of Odessa,
went to be with her Heavenly father and her family on Monday, February
6, 2012 at the age of 93.
She was born on a small ranch in Tatum, NM on July 5, 1918 to Clarence
and Beatrice (Riggs) Emison, the oldest of five children.
Early in life, she was the owner of her own business, a café.
She continued to work in the restaurant industry throughout her
life. Frankie always put God first in her life, closely
followed by her family, then friends and church family, whom she loved
deeply. She was a
firecracker – quick to anger, but just as quick to make up with a hug.
She enjoyed gardening and grew grapes in her backyard.
She made her own grape jelly and also used the old fashioned
wringing washer for many years. Those left to cherish her memory are her brother:
Oscar Emison of Brownwood; sister:
Edna Walsh of Washington state; twelve grandchildren and
numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her
beloved puppies: “Prissy”
and “Tinkerbell”. She was preceded to her Heavenly home by her
children: Clarence Wright,
Jerry Wayne Schooley and Martha Lambert; their father:
Earnest Eugene Schooley; her parents; two sisters; and her late
husband: Monroe Russell. The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa on Thursday evening, February 9, 2012 from 6 to 8:00 pm CST. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm MST Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene in Lovington, NM, officiated by Pastor Jaron Graham. Mario M. Pando, Jr. age 38, of Presidio, passed from
this life on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital in
Odessa. He was born in
Redford, TX on April 29, 1973 to Mario G. Pando, Sr. and Arcilia
(Montoya) Pando. He
married Azucena Carrasco in Presidio on November 1, 1993.
Mario worked for TxDot. Mario was a very devout Catholic with a beautiful,
strong faith. He loved the
outdoors and ranching and animals were his favorite hobby.
He enjoyed anything to do with cattle, horses, farming and
ranching. Mario had a
great sense of humor and always had the funniest jokes to share.
He had a knack for giving people the silliest yet most fitting
nicknames. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18

She was born in Alamos de Marquez, Coahuila, Mexico to the late
Torivio Castro and Florencia Hinostrosa on December 17, 1938.
She was a homemaker.
She was a strong, hardworking woman who was very loving and
always willing to lend a hand. Lazara ran her own flea market and was
one of the first to open her flea market in Ojinaga.
She was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother and
great-grandmother. Her
grandchildren were her joy. She is survived by her sons:

He was born in Odessa on June 23, 1975.
He worked for Village Car Wash Express.

Kevin Donald Collins, age 46, of Odessa passed from
this life on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital, with
the love of his life, Lisa, by his side.
He was born in Pawhuska, OK on October 17, 1965.
He graduated from Permian High School in 1984.
Kevin was a loving and generous man with a great sense of humor.
He was a talented handyman and could fix anything.
He put his talents to good use working for
Waukesha-Pearce
Industries as a mechanic.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
He and Lisa were in the midst of plans for moving to their new
home and growing old together.
They were very happy and were enjoying their life together.
He will forever remain in the hearts of his loving family; his fiancée:

Gordon Nolan Howard, age 63, passed from this life
on Friday, February 10, 2012 at his Odessa residence.
He was born in Odessa on December 15, 1948 to William Marvin
Howard and Betty Simmons-Pate.
He married Vicki Fisher on November 24, 1990 in Midland and they
had recently celebrated 21 years together.
They worshipped at River of Hope Christian Fellowship. Gordon worked on drilling rigs for over 36 years.
He was a NASCAR fan, who cheered for Jeff Gordan.
He also enjoyed a good Longhorn game. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife:

Jeff Howard and wife Sharon and Bill Howard and wife Elizabeth,
all of Odessa, Sheldon “Tiger” Howard of Kenai, Alaska, and Joel Fisher

Jose Armando Tavarez, age 46, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012, at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1965 in Mexico to the late Alfonso and Florencia (Tercero) Tavarez. He was a self employed welder and a jack of all trades. He is survived by his wife: Sofia Garcia of Odessa; three daughters: Andrea Tavarez , Olivia Tavarez, and Cecilia Tavarez, all of Odessa; four sons: Marcos Tavarez, Jose A. Tavarez, Jr. , Jose G. Ortiz, and Juan D. Ortiz, all of Odessa; four sisters: Maria Hernandez, Maria Guadalupe Orona, and America Galindo, all of Odessa; and Norma Mendoza of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; one brother: Luis Alfonso Tavarez of Ojinaga, CH Mexico; and seven grandchildren: Emily Tavarez, Jose Armando Tavarez III “Boy”, Jovanny Jose Ortiz, Jazzelyn Iliana Ortiz, Juan Diego Ortiz, Dianyra Gizel Ortiz, and Damia Gibelle Ortiz. Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Mexico. Interment will be at Ultimo Refugio in Ojinaga, Mexico. Lila Lea Blount, age 81, of Pecos, passed from
this life to rejoin her beloved husband of 62 years in Heaven on
Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Hospice House of Odessa.
She was born in Lemming, TX on August 11, 1930 to the late
Hugh and Margaret (Randall) McKenzie.
She married Nolan Eugene Blount in Monahans, TX on June 23,
1949. Together they
raised six children. They have left behind a legacy of six
children, twenty-three grandchildren, forty-two
great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Lila was always there for her kids.
She was a great cook and all around awesome mom.
She loved family picnics and gatherings and her greatest joy
was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was an avid reader, a cat lover, a gardener who loved
flowers and plants, and a sports fan – especially fond of the
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
Mrs. Blount never met a stranger and served her church and
her community. She was
independent and strong willed and an example to her kids. She was
very involved in her kids’ activities including everything from
cheering their sports teams to leading in Girl Scouts and teaching
the Girls’ Auxiliary at West Park Baptist Church of Pecos. She
supported cancer research and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge of
Pecos. She will be greatly missed by her family – three
sons: Richard Blount
and wife Cindy of Marion, KS and Nolan Jack Blount and wife Retta
and Randall Blount and wife Rosie, all of Pecos; two daughters:
Jackie Hunter and husband Richard of Mathis and Sandy
Hendricks and husband Bill of Odessa; twenty-three grandchildren,
forty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and
numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, her
daughter: Nancy Jean
Blount Walser; and her siblings – brothers:
William, Hugh, and Bob McKenzie, and sister:
Margaret Crawford, precede her to their Heavenly home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
